Malia Mead
Welcomes to BetterHelp! My name is Malia and I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) licensed in Colorado and Texas. I am so glad that you made a decision to get support and guidance! Therapy can be a big decision and it requires a lot of trust and vulnerability which is why it is my goal to help you feel safe to share and be yourself. I have been practicing therapy over 12 years and specialize in working with clients on a variety of areas such anxiety, depression, addictions, self esteem, grief, relationship issues, divorce and more. In our sessions, we will focus on the individual needs of each client with compassion, patience, non-judgement and understanding. I am a strength based therapist and focus on helping client’s see that they are resilient and help them work towards a new perspective. As a LMFT, while I no longer work directly with couples or families, I do work individually with clients from a relational model where we focus on how to best support you within your relationships with yourself, your personal life and professional life. We will talk about boundaries, work/life balance, values, and communication to name a few topics. We will focus on your individual needs as they relate to your current challenges and goals and discuss the impact relationship dynamics have on you. What we know is that our daily lives are impacted by those around us in every environment. That brings both a lot of support and also challenges. We will really focus on what you can control within yourself and model healthy behavior to those around you. This work will be about you, it’s for you to be your healthiest, best self. Many other topics outside of therapy can and will be explored as they pertain to you. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) , Client Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, IFS tools and other approaches to help find a sense of inner control over thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I am honored you chose me as your provider and if you don't mind, my animals like sitting in on sessions at times. :) I am excited to work with you!

I finished my Master in Counseling degree in 1997. I opened my own practice, Passionately Ever after Counseling, in 1999 in Collin County, Texas. As I grew my practice I did contract work with major outplacement firms, an alcohol treatment center and a methadone clinic. In my private practice, I have worked with individual adults, couples and teenagers and/or their families. In addition, I have supervised many counseling interns. Through my own individual counseling and training, I have mastered the art of helping clients identify, respect and honor their free child, viewed as the soul and essence of who they really are. Allowing that "spirit" or "energy" to inspire their life and choices will transform their life into an exciting and passionate adventure. It is this "free spirit" in me that led to the genesis of Passionately Ever After Counseling.

I absolutely love what I do and I view each day as an opportunity to increase in love, peace, and joy; believing that all other increase (i.e. spiritual and material things) will naturally follow. Not only do I work to increase myself, but I also absolutely love helping others to increase in these areas. I primarily use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, with a mix of Solution based Therapy, and Person Center Therapy, and many different skills and interventions. I have worked in various settings; with clients from many different cultural/ethnic groups; and with various presenting problems. These presenting problems include major depression, anxiety; bipolar disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Psychosis, suicidal crisis and multiple suicide attempts; feelings of self harm and harm to others; and other many other problems. When working with clients I like to begin to build the client and therapist relationship/rapport right away, and use this to create individualized treatment for each client. Whenever you make the decision to think about change in your life and/or are ready to begin change, I want to be here for you every step of the way. I pray each day "Lord let today be an adventure and not just a chore". I have been to the deepest depth of depression, death fear, hopelessness, worthlessness to highest out of control points of mania with very risky and reckless behavior and then back to living each day as the "best me". I desire to help guide you through the rough and tough times in life and all the way to truly living "your very best you and your very best life". Whenever you are ready really live your life, and not simply exist, I will be here waiting for you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) Certification. I proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. During my military career I gained a wealth of knowledge working with sailors suffering from addictions, depression, trauma, and other life challenges. My military experience coupled with my 10 years of community counseling has exposed me to the devastating struggles individuals face. Therefore, my passion is building collaborative counseling relationships to help individuals heal and thrive to reach their highest possible potential. My theoretical orientation is Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (CBT) and Solution-Focused Based Therapy (SFBT). Both approaches focus on solutions to empower individuals to improve their quality of life. The human mind is extremely complex. Therefore, an eclectic approach is often needed. CBT and SFBT are approaches that are ideal for integrating with other approaches as needed. My mission is to provide a safe, judgmental free, supportive environment in which individuals can heal. My degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University, Master of Arts in Special Education from Phoenix University, Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling (Marriage and Family) from Liberty University, and Educational Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning from Liberty University. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or the weight of past experiences, you’re not alone. Many people reach out for support when their thoughts feel constant, their emotions feel exhausting, or they’re unsure how to move forward—and therapy can help create clarity and relief. I am a licensed mental health professional with experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, stress, and traumatic experiences. My work focuses on helping clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns so they can develop healthier coping strategies and feel more confident in their daily lives. I have experience working with adults who struggle with anxiety, emotional distress, past trauma, and low self-confidence. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Together we work to identify underlying patterns, process difficult experiences, and develop practical tools for managing emotional distress. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and supportive. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These approaches help clients process, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier emotional responses and process past experiences that continue to cause distress. I believe therapy should be a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore their experiences. My goal is to help clients gain insight, develop resilience, and create meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. I work with individuals experiencing persistent worry, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, and the impact of past experiences. Many clients seek support when they feel mentally exhausted, have difficulty relaxing, or notice that stress and anxiety are interfering with their daily functioning. Therapy focuses on building practical coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and helping clients feel more grounded and in control of their lives.

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet.
