Welcome! You're here because you have an interest in changing your life. You've already shown a great amount of courage and initiative in taking your first steps toward embracing your best self; it is an honor and a privilege for me to help you do just that. I'd like to give you some information about my background. I received my B.A. in psychology from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA in 2004. After graduating college, I worked in the community as an outreach case worker for adults with chronic and severe mental health diagnoses as well as dual diagnoses. During this time, I assisted in crisis intervention, clinical assessment, as well as individual/group counseling to evaluate treatment goals and objectives. I went on to receive my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ in 2009. When I obtained approval by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2015, I began working for a community agency as an intensive in-home clinician for at-risk children, youth and their families. During this time, I've had the privilege of providing individual as well as family counseling services to those families in need of stabilization in the community. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor through the NBCC. I consider myself to be a very client-focused clinician; your beliefs, needs and goals are what drive treatment first and foremost. I also like to incorporate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Motivational Interviewing. I feel as though the key to change is mindset; as a result, I like to do a good deal of work with mindfulness as well as cognitive reframing. As someone who has worked with a great many families, I also have a wealth of experience in family dynamics, healthy communications, and appropriate boundary setting within the family unit. I also have the benefit of parenting experience through having a toddler of my own! Some areas of focus with which I have experience treating include: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, self-injury, relationship issues, parenting problems, family issues, career challenges, and panic disorder. I've worked with both children and adults who have faced abandonment, emotional trauma, physical trauma, or sexual trauma. I consider myself an easygoing, disarming person to talk to; my job is to make you feel comfortable, as if you are talking to an old friend. I also pride myself in getting people to utilize a different lens through which they can view the world; one with endless possibilities, less pain, and more peace. My sincere hope is that I can help promote healing and lasting change for you, regardless of what you seek.

Greetings! My name is Dr. Nicole Donato. However, please feel free to call me Nicole. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a life-long lover of knowledge evident by my two Master degrees and PhD in Psychology. Additionally, I knew as a teenage girl that I wanted to become a therapist. Thus, since 2006 I have been licensed in the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor. My career has taken many twists and turns. I have worked in an inpatient psychiatric hospital as well as provided therapy services on an outpatient basis. Also, I have been employed as a social worker for a foster family agency. Currently I am a college professor. I absolutely love teaching! It is extremely gratifying to see students have a lightbulb moment of understanding occur. When I started college, I never dreamed of a day that technology would offer a conduit upon which effective therapy services could be provided. Thus, I look forward to working collaboratively with clients through the online platform to heal from their emotional disturbances. How therapy works is often times shrouded in mystery. Thus, I would like to demystify the therapy process. From the person-centered therapy perspective, I aim to create a therapeutic alliance with my clients. This means that clients can expect for me to be genuine and empathetic. “Walk a mile in my shoes” is an apt saying that expresses how I work to understand my client’s life experiences. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is another theoretical orientation that I use to assist clients. The premise of CBT entails identifying activating events. These activating events may cause negative feelings when there are negative self-talk messages that a person tells themselves about the events. Thus, I work with clients to help them identify their negative self-talk messages that may be contributing to their emotional disturbances. Additionally, I draw therapeutic techniques from motivational interviewing and the psychodynamic approach. I look forward to working with you! Nicole

Are you looking for a male therapist who has experience working with children, adolescents and adults? Are you looking for someone who can help you achieve your goals in a fun and non judgmental environment? Then I am your man. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who started his mental health career in 2013. I have many years experience working with individual adults, families, and couples. I enjoy helping individuals discover their hidden strengths as they work towards personal growth. When working with couples I focus a great deal on communication and really hearing what your partner is saying. When working with children and teens I work hard to find the individual talents, strengths and interests of each of my youth, to make individual plans and sessions tailored for their unique goals. I am also understanding that the youth I work with do not operate in isolation, and incorporate caregivers in all treatment plans, while also assisting them with the tools necessary for sustained progress.

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen." - Brené Brown My name is Nicole and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of New Jersey. Reaching out for help is a true act of bravery. If you are reading this, you are one step closer to changing your life for the better. Vulnerability can feel scary, but it is one of the most courageous actions we can take. In my sessions, I use a combination of evidence-based treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), person-centered therapy (PCT-CCT), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I use motivational interviewing to assess the stage of change of each of my clients and ensure their level of readiness for specific interventions. My areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, ADHD, stress, inner-child healing, addiction, life transitions, relationships, body image, self-esteem, spirituality, trauma, grief, ecotherapy, attachment, identity exploration, sex, and communication. As someone who believes there is no one size fits all approach to therapy, I modify my therapeutic practice based on each individual’s needs. My clients find me to be genuine, approachable, humorous, inclusive, and open-minded. From my observations, I've found that incorporating humor and authenticity into my sessions has assisted in nurturing a strong connection between my clients and myself. I hold the belief that fostering a non-judgmental environment establishes the necessary conditions for discussing deeply personal subjects. It is an absolute privilege to be trusted to hold space for the healing portion of your journey.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Fieldsboro counselor?

Before seeing your Fieldsboro therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy in Fieldsboro.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice from a therapist. A Fieldsboro licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy with a Fieldsboro counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Fieldsboro, New Jersey can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Fieldsboro has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online therapy to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
