I am a licensed therapist with fifteen years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families, from those going through significant life changes to those healing from traumatic experiences. I graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 2009 with Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Psychology and an honors in Liberal Arts. I obtained licenses from Texas and Florida in 2024. The first few times we meet, the focus will be on your life and how you have been impacted by what has happened to you. I am a lifelong student of the healing arts. Currently a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have eight years of experience helping youth and adults recovering from addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions in both individuals and families. Prior to becoming a therapist, I studied Scientific Inquiry and completed my bachelors thesis in neuroscience, studying signals in the brain that affect eating and other behaviors. I worked in the natural health industry as a Research Scientist and educator. As part of this experience, I have studied cultural diversity and the use of holistic health approaches for over 30 years. I believe each individual has the ability to affect positive change in their own well-being with the right support, environment and evidence-based interventions. My motto is “Kindness Matters”. I have found client-centered “talk” therapy to be effective in building a therapeutic relationship of trust that fosters self exploration, confidence and motivation. My role is not to give advice or judgment, but to help you make choices based on your own knowledge and values. For some, this may involve therapies such as Cognitive or Dialectical Behavioral Therapies (CBT/DBT) Narrative Therapy, or Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, among others. I use assessment interviews periodically to identify your strengths and learn about your ongoing needs to make sure we are meeting your goals. Ethics are paramount in my practice. Education, advocacy and resources are essential to counseling and I am an active member of The Texas Counseling Association. If I don’t have an answer, I will find it. Previous patients have called me “warm, caring, funny, relatable, helpful, professional, and thoughtful”. I hope you will find the same!

Yesenia Guerra
Hello, my name is Yesenia, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (licensed in Texas), with 17 years of counseling experience (14 years as an LPC). A majority of my counseling experience includes helping individuals with anxiety, life changes, relationship problems, and self-esteem issues. I will work with you to create a safe environment where your thoughts and feelings may be shared freely, while receiving constructive feedback, tools, emotional support, and unconditional positive regard, as needed, throughout the course of your therapy. Thank you for having the courage to seek help, and for taking the first critical and empowering steps toward self-improvement. I look forward to working with you and supporting you to achieve your goals. Regarding my schedule of availability for virtual or phone sessions, I am usually available at 7 PM on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and you may schedule your weekly virtual/phone sessions 10 or more hours in advance. To schedule your sessions, you may click on my schedule of availability, and select a time slot (from the options provided) that work best for you. As for message response time, I usually respond to messages at least once per work day, and do not usually respond to messages during my personal time (away from work). Upon my return to work, I will respond to your message at the start or end of that work day. If I do not respond immediately, please be patient, as I may be attempting to respond to other clients. If you are experiencing a crisis, are having suicidal thoughts, or you or someone else is currently in danger, and are needing immediate support or safety intervention, please call 911 ( emergency services) or 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or go to the nearest hospital, accordingly. Lastly, regarding my preferred mode of communication for our therapy sessions, I prefer and strongly recommend virtual sessions, which allows me to observe your nonverbal communication, and to more fully understand what you are feeling &/or what you are trying to express. Most importantly, our virtual sessions may allow us to have a more personable experience, which may ultimately enhance your therapeutic process and outcome. However, if you prefer to opt out of the virtual sessions as our main form of communication, please feel free to address this concern with me, so that we may make appropriate arrangements. If necessary, you may consider requesting another therapist who may better suit your communication preference. Take great care, and I look forward to working with you soon.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or tired of talking about the same problems without real change? I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas who works with adults, teens, and veterans navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and everyday stressors. My style is straightforward, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should feel useful, not abstract or endless. I come from a background in education and counseling, and I’m especially drawn to working with veterans, adolescents, and clients who value practical tools alongside thoughtful conversation. I also have experience supporting individuals and families impacted by autism and neurodiversity, and I approach this work with patience, clarity, and respect for each person’s pace and goals. In sessions, I draw from evidence based approaches such as CBT, solution focused therapy, and trauma informed care, while staying flexible to what actually works for you. I don’t believe in one size fits all therapy. We focus on understanding patterns, building coping strategies, and making meaningful progress at a pace that feels realistic. Sessions are calm, direct, and engaging. We take the work seriously, but not ourselves. If you’re looking for a therapist who is grounded, honest, and genuinely invested in helping you move forward, I’d be glad to work with you.
