Problems, challenges, complications, snags, stressors... Whatever you call them, we all encounter difficulties in our journeys through life. I have found that people have the capacity to overcome these challenges when provided the right tools, education, and direction. In fact, many find abilities and strengths within themselves they never knew existed. As a social worker, I have helped people deal with a variety of problems on different scales. I am here to offer support, guidance, resources, and unconditional positive regard. My goal is to provide a safe environment in which a person can discuss and explore situations, thoughts, and experiences that cause distress. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in 2003 and a Master’s in Social work in 2007. My therapeutic style is eclectic and in large part depends on the needs of the individual. The treatment is often solution focused and client centered with a strengths-based, mindful approach. I will work collaboratively with you to identify and define achievable outcomes and then create a plan to obtain these objectives. I am also available to simply listen and provide ongoing emotional support. Acknowledging a problem and reaching out for help is not easy and in fact requires bravery, insight, and resolve. I applaud you for taking the first steps to address your specific life challenges. I am so happy to help you realize your individual goals and ultimately reach your full potential.

Life is complex! Everyone goes through struggles, experience difficulties, and face setbacks. Sometimes emotions and circumstances can feel overwhelming. Therapy encourages open and honest dialogue about issues that are causing distress in an individual’s life. In a therapeutic relationship, clients work to identify and understand how these stressors impact their life, plus develop strategies to manage the symptoms. If you long to live more fully, connect with others more authentically, and accept yourself, flaws and all, you are in the right place! My name is Kirsten, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 6 years of experience. I received my Master’s in Social Work from Texas A&M University-Commerce and have experience across a variety of treatment settings. My work with clients is supportive, goal-oriented, and rooted in proven methods. I am passionate about creating a space for anyone who chooses to boldly take control of their lives and has the desire to be mentally and emotionally healthy. It is my goal to provide a positive, non-judgmental, and supportive environment in which you feel both seen and heard. I work collaboratively with you to identify your strengths, areas for growth and help you move along the path to change. I draw from various therapeutic modalities to create a tailored approach based on your presenting concerns, goals, and motivation. Sometimes we need additional support to reach our potential and navigate change, and it is my honor to be a helping hand in your life. I am committed to assisting individuals in building on their existing strengths and exploring, setting, and meeting achievable goals. Let's take this journey together!

You found my page, so you must be looking for someone to help you navigate the stormy seas of life. Perhaps you have experienced trauma or an event in your life you just can't seem to 'get over.' Perhaps you feel ashamed, depressed, anxious, disconnected, or stuck. My passion is to help people just like you - people who want to move forward in their journey toward hope and healing. You have courageously taken the first step, and I would be honored to walk along side you as you progress in your journey. I want to help you learn to connect with others and yourself in a way that moves you forward and motivates you to create the life you envision, and begin to heal the things in your life that have led to feeling disconnected. This can take a variety of strategies and techniques, but they all start with a foundation of feeling heard and understood. The counseling relationship is the basis by which you begin to experience greater connection with others and yourself. For some, a specific technique or "theory" is important; however, for most, it is knowing that the person with whom you work cares and is able to make that connection with you. I have my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. I have experience working with a vast number of mental health concerns and diagnoses, but I am passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves, others, and resolve any trauma (or events, attitudes, behaviors, or beliefs) that may hinder someone from true authenticity and the ability to connect.
