9 years defines my experience providing dual diagnosis mental health related counseling services to adolescents, adults and elders in a variety of inpatient/outpatient services in the criminal justice system in conjunction with integrated clinical health systems services. This experience gave me a new direction and way of life consisting of personal growth and change I would like to share with you. Our goal is to share my experiences with those who seek to enhance their level of personal growth and change. Serving adolescents, adults, elders, couples, families and groups with my training in an eclectic variety of treatment modalities, the actual counseling approach with a given client is determined by your preference and personal goals. With the hope that your goals will center around the self discovery of personal strengths and yielding an increase in self esteem you will realize that your integrity is the most valuable asset about yourself. Upon this discovery you will be able to share with others as you become an extension of the counseling process. My theory is when people have hope and learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs and attitudes they create the biology of courage. By normalizing stress people are free to experience change. In Relationship focused therapy the counselor will identify strengths by asking family members to take note of the family dynamics they want to maintain The counselor will look for exceptions to the problem by asking couples to recount times when the problem did not occur and to account for why, to formulate a solution and highlight strengths. Couples will review worksheets and experience discoveries by working together to identify strengths and cultural differences. In my experience within the past 9 years couples will experience cohesion within the family unit in which they will find new meaning and purpose. Couples will set goals that identifies a renewed value driven direction as they discover what they want to work towards and what is really important to them. At Franciccan University I was made aware and adapted my Christian basesd counseling approach to center around the Eleven Human Emotions that describe the pleasure, appetite or human emotions. The goal to acquire the good through Love Desire and Joy and to avoid the evil of Hate Aversion and Sadness. These emotions make up the heart or inner core of mans emotional life. For difficult issues it is wise to recognize the Utilitatian or assertive emotions of Hope Courage and Anger versus Despair, Sadness and Fear. These Emotions give us the energy necessary to overcome obstacles that separate us from the things that are hard to get and what we really want. Clients are encouraged to engage in each component of the Eleven Human Emotions that will give them clarity and a renewed realtionship with the Holy Spirit thus gaining compassion for themselves and others. What do you have to lose and you have everything to gain by trying!

I am a clinical social worker licensed in Arizona with over 15 years of professional experience in therapy. Since I was a teenager, I have always wanted to work in a helping profession. I have had the benefit of attending a terrific Master's program in Social Work at Temple University. However, the people I have served along the way have been my greatest teachers in the quest for positive change in all our lives. The beginning years of my career were hands on with women's issues, substance abuse, hospice, community, and inpatient mental health as a mental health technician. I have also worked in a group home for developmentally delayed adults. Once I earned my clinical license, I provided individual and group counseling for adults focused on the wide range of human experiences. I have worked as a Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, and Therapist with adults of all ages. Over ten years have passed since my clinical licensing and I have enjoyed every one of my job experiences working one on one with people. As unique individuals entering a counseling alliance, beginning the therapy process is always a new adventure. I have been taught that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship we find together. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Reality based treatments, and I like to assign constructive homework between ongoing sessions. The world-renowned psychologist Dr. Carl Rogers suggested providing unconditional, positive regard when establishing the counseling relationship. In every new therapy alliance, I try to emulate his humanistic approach. Overall, my expertise lies in mental health and substance abuse counseling. I really enjoy positive psychology and I am told that I am caring, loving, and genuine. We are all in a new age, grappling with old and new issues. I would enjoy meeting you and working with you to move forward in a healthy way.

The face of someone who looks for support-looks like mine. Sometimes it's struggling with anxiety or depression. Maybe diabetes and the toll the healthy management takes on your life. It could also look like a young adult feeling stuck with so many opportunities in the world. It could look like someone who has lost their job or home and turned to Alcohol or Gambling to ease the pain. Or someone who just can't shake things they may or may not label as TRAUMA in their lives. More important than any of these situations, is the question: How do we regain CONTROL over Happiness and OUR own lives? I believe in taking a holistic and collaborative approach. This means we work together, as a team to improve your whole life-not just your mental or emotional health. There are multiple ways we can go about finding this answer, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EFT, EMDR, Addiction models, Mindfulness-based modalities, Motivational Interviewing and, more. I have been supporting individuals just like you for over 14 years. I am committed to helping people learn how to live their BEST lives! My practice focuses on targeting Anything that stands in your way of functioning as your Best self!

First let me say how happy I am that you are seeking counseling support. That takes a lot of courage and shows that you want more for yourself and your life! I've been in the social work field for 25 years working non-profit, in the schools and for the last 13 years in private clinical practice. I also serve as a Health and Wellness Coach for clients all over the United States as my own battle with an auto-immune condition led me to find a more natural path. My overall mission is to bring freedom through health – body, soul and spirit – because when we feel better, we do better! My overall areas of expertise are in helping people get “un-stuck” through a better understanding of how they are wired and how they’ve been wounded. I help clients discover the life they most desire to live and teach them how to get into alignment with that desire. I use cognitive behavioral therapy approaches, narrative therapy, psychodynamic and solution focused approaches but I love to use experiential exercises to help people get out of their head and into their heart to find the answers they need for moving forward into their fullest life. I look forward to working with you, Kimber

Since 2005 I have worked with people struggling with addiction, depression, bipolar/mood disorder, stress/anxiety/fear, relationship problems, psychosis/schizophrenia, grief, anger, and communication problems. Let me help you - I have a relaxed but professional approach, and I prefer a solution - focused approach. The goal is to help you figure out how to get where you want to be in the here and now, not ruminate about what happened years ago. I utilize several evidence based approaches and techniques in my practice. If you have questions about specifics, please feel free to contact me to ask. It is essential to keep in mind that counseling is not a magic pill. Counseling is a process that requires participation and work from the patient and counselor alike. Change may not happen overnight, but it shouldn't take years, either. Making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results, as long as you are committed to the process and the work.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about licensed therapists and mental health services

Some other commonly asked questions on therapy with a licensed counselor and BetterHelp serving the Guadalupe area can be found below:

How does the cost of an in-person therapist compare to BetterHelp?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US with most therapists is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Guadalupe due to a higher cost of living, and a limited number of therapists taking new clients. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

  • With a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • With therapists: $100-300
  • With a clinician: $100

While many psychologists in Guadalupe may not take health insurance, some in the state of Arizona may work on a sliding scale, meaning they'll factor in your income and charge what you can afford per session. With a BetterHelp therapist throughout the state of Arizona you can expect significantly more affordable options, with sessions ranging from $65 to $100 per week (billed every four weeks).

While their lived experience, expertise, careers, and background vary, therapists here all possess at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience with adult and sometimes teen patients, and have the necessary therapist credentials to provide a safe space for long lasting emotional healing.

Is BetterHelp right for me?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of therapy in Guadalupe is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in AZ, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 85283 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site where you can schedule a session based on your and the therapist's schedule. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists around or in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Guadalupe therapist?

Before seeing your therapist near you, prep for your session by reading to understand the process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, you can let our therapists know if you have any concerns or feel unsure about what to talk about. therapists near you may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. Should I find a Guadalupe therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what it might entail. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or specific condition. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback. A Guadalupe licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find with a counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is therapy worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. An experienced clinician can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based licensed clinician in Guadalupe, Arizona can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information.
