I offer a dedicated, experienced and professional listening ear, compassionate spirit, and a clear, supportive guiding voice. Learn to develop your strengths, coping skills, and energy so that you can better enjoy your life. Our focus is to change, to solve the problems at hand, and to learn how to problem solve for the future, and create lasting differences for an improved lifestyle. Energizing ourselves to face challenges and changes, celebrating moments and sustaining steps into 'new normal' are the hallmarks of effective collaboration in our counseling setting. After 35 + years of experience, I have learned from so many people, and hopefully they have learned also from our think-out-loud-in-a-safe-space time together. I am a licensed psychologist in Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida. I have 38 years of experience in working with individuals and families. During my career, I have been the director of hospital units and operated private practices in three states. I have experience in working with individuals from basically all walks of life. I have assisted individuals who have struggled with depression, anxiety, grief and loss issues, trauma, career issues, OCD, ADHD, emotional abuse, and a variety of other trying and difficult life challenges. I have found that life is sometimes very tough and challenging no matter who we are or where we are on life’s journey. The core of my therapy style consists of two combined words: “grace/acceptance.” I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with the utmost kindness, acceptance, and care by someone who is safe. My life goal, not only as a psychologist but also as a human being, is to treat every person with grace and kindness. A huge aspect of my style is patience and listening. From a clinical standpoint, I would probably best be described as interpersonal and compassionate in approach. I also use cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and rational-emotive strategies and thoughts to assist in the therapeutic process. Additionally, I incorporate a host of other thoughts and strategies that I have gleaned from both secular and non-secular writers over the years. My goal is always to treat everyone as a person with differing needs, thoughts, feelings, goals, and struggles. I do not believe that one technique, strategy, or approach fits all. I am constantly learning and trying to improve so that I can better myself and others. My approach is as a professional and human who has experienced a host of challenges and struggles himself. My thrust is to help each person realize that there is hope, even if they currently feel hopeless and at wits end. Again, all of these techniques are woven into a package that I like to term as a grace (favoring whether one believes that they deserve it or not) or acceptance-oriented approach. For many individuals, it is difficult to step out and seek help; and I understand that, because I am human and have practiced in the field of psychology for more than three decades. I think that the question that often comes to our minds as we take such a risk has to do with safety, that is, will the person I talk to be safe and not judge, criticize, or think poorly of me. My goal initially is to answer that question and continue to answer it via my behaviors and comments with, “No, I will strive to make this a safe and beneficial experience for you. I will treat you with acceptance and grace in the same way that I want to be treated.” Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you. If not, please continue to search for someone that you believe can be of help to you. If you are struggling, please don’t go it alone!

“If I can help people lessen the amount of pain in their lives and rid themselves of suffering then that’s what I want to do.” said young adult, Lisa Levin. Nearly 2-and-a-half decades later: Lisa specializes in treating all traumas (also to include racism/discrimination, spiritual/religious), all addictions (including love, sex, pornography, etc.), veteran issues, self-esteem, & depression/emotional dysregulation. These are only some of her passions. Lisa is not a conventional therapist. She does what WORKS (within ethical bounds) even if it’s a little out of the ordinary because she understands each client’s needs are different. She has over twenty years of experience including overseas, and she maintains her passion today. Board Certified (BCD) with a myriad of training like EMDR, PE, CBT, ACT, hypnotherapy, and she’s certified as an Addictions Specialist (CAS) as well as an Emotion Code* Practitioner (CECP). Lisa specializes in treating all trauma and addictions. Trauma can be one event or many. Did you know that trauma can be mental/emotional all by itself? You don’t have to have been hit, sexually assaulted, in a car accident, or in war to have been traumatized. Years of mistreatment and enduring microagressions for example or lack of emotional nurturance take its toll on even the toughest of us. It doesn’t matter if others see the events you’ve endured as traumatic. What matters is how YOUR heart and mind have responded to your experiences. As for addictions, addiction can but doesn’t have to be about drugs and alcohol. Love, sex, porn, gambling, shopping, eating, video games these all are very powerful forces in people’s lives that need to be treated so they can live much freer & satisfying lives. What makes Lisa different? She’s passionate about helping right the societal wrongs of the past and actively works for equality and justice for everyone regardless of skin color, orientation, religion, nationality, and background. ** She helps people of color and those in the LGBTQIA+ communities take charge of their lives in an empowered way and deal with the trauma of discrimination, racism, and microagressions. *Not many people in the psychology world have heard of the Emotion Code because it’s in the realm of energy healing. Lisa researched it, learned it and decided it worked so well it was worth her time and resources to become certified to enhance her clients’ therapy progress. According to Lisa, “I’ve seen EC improve lives of clients in one or two sessions that talk therapy and even EMDR haven’t been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time! It’s really an amazing tool, and I quinsy be the only one in the area that provides this service.” About scheduling appointments: I've stopped using BH's scheduling platform. I'd rather find out what your hours of availability are and schedule with you one on one. **Check out Lisa’s FB pages: Equality & Justice for Black Lives and There’s No Such Thing As Sidelines

Based in central Indiana, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Indiana and nationally registered Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) with nearly a decade of professional work experience. As an art therapist and mental health counselor, I have a variety of approaches to bring into the therapeutic relationship and deeply believe in the power of creativity and mindfulness to guide and heal. While I have experience working with individuals and groups of all ages in a variety of settings – including mental health agencies, school settings, and day treatment facilities—I have spent the most time working with teens and young adults providing in-person direct mental health care and behavioral counseling via individual, group, and family therapy sessions. Issues I can help with include but are not limited to the following: coping with stress and anxiety; managing depression; motivation; ADHD; self-esteem and confidence; and coping with big and small life changes. I am also trained to provide psychoeducation about mental health conditions and medication management. I cannot prescribe medication. My therapy style and approach are eclectic and draw influence from Jungian, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered/Humanistic, Mindfulness, Somatic, and Polyvagal Theory. It is important to me to meet you where you are and attune treatment to what will work best for us as we work together to meet your goals. Whether you are working towards increased insight and self-reflection or seeking symptom-relief and improved functioning, I am here to support you with making the most of that big step to connect and grow. I will do everything in my power to tailor our dialog and your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs, so your honesty and thoughtfulness make a big difference in the process. It is a courageous and vulnerable thing to trust a stranger with the tough stuff, but the more I know about you and what you are trying to accomplish, the better able I am to help you find your way there. I believe in treating the therapeutic relationship, and you, with respect, sensitivity, compassion, and warmth. I am privileged to meet with and support people during incredibly stressful and challenging times in their lives. I always endeavor to assume positive intent when interacting with clients and hope you will do the same for me. I am a real person who makes mistakes. An important aspect of the therapeutic relationship is engaging honestly and openly with one another in order to learn new ways of communicating and understanding. The problems you may encounter with me while we are working together often reflect the challenges you are experiencing in other areas of your life. The difference with our relationship is that it’s my job to help you work on those problems so I’m going to do everything I can to earnestly and kindly engage you in that work. I am also open to learning and always appreciate your feedback. Most of the time I find that we can work through whatever might come up. Sometimes, it may be necessary to refer you to a different therapist who can better help you with your particular challenges. I see therapy as a timely relationship where it is my job to hold space, instill hope, shine a light, and hold up a metaphorical mirror while clients explore their inner world, make meaning and sense of their story, and try on new ideas and ways of being. Therapy is a time (and space) limited activity. Ideally, we meet once a week or once every two weeks for approximately 45-55 minutes and we make the most of that time. We usually decide together based on your treatment plan goals how and when to end the helping relationship. It takes a lot of strength and will power to work towards a more fulfilling and happier life. If you’ve read this far, you have that strength so don’t stop now! Further, I find it helpful to be up front about expectations. I am a single parent to the coolest 5-year-old. Life gets kind of crazy sometimes, and I have to change things around last minute more often than I prefer in order to prioritize my small human. I am forthright with clients about this and we have gotten pretty creative in navigating both prioritizing therapy and life in general, but sometimes I simply cannot follow through on the original plan. That being said, I make every attempt to uphold our agreement. If you miss a session because of me, I do everything in my power to get you an alternate option with in that same week. Additionally, I am currently unable to accommodate evening and weekend sessions at this time. On occasion we will use that time as a backup if no other options are available for rescheduling purposes, but the latest session I offer starts at 5pm eastern. So if you need an evening or weekend time, you will want to keep looking and possibly adjust your profile so you can rematch with someone who is able to support your needs. I know there’s a good fit for you out there, don’t give up! I check my messages everyday and try to respond with in 12 hours on weekdays and 24 hours over the weekend. Please remember that BetterHelp is not appropriate if you are in crisis or in immediate need of support. In crisis situations, please call 911 or local emergency services. You can also call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to talk to someone right away!
