Hi Friend, This is a little about me. First and foremost I am a regular and down-to-earth guy. At times Counseling professionals and other helping professionals can can get reputations to "high and mighty", "up on a pedestal", or 'holier than thou". I am a regular 40 year old man who is balding and slightly overweight. I have made mistakes in my life as I'm sure you have. I do not have a magic wand to make your life better in a hurry. What I do have is an open ear, a caring heart, a good education, and about 15 years in counseling a wide variety of people and issues. Of these the most common issues I have helped others with are overcoming symptoms of depression, anxiety, addiction, and common family issues. As I mentioned earlier there is no magic to what I do but we can work toward goals and talk it out.

My approach looks to first establish an environment of unconditional positive regard in which a person can feel safe to bring out the most authentic parts of their lives and make meaning out their struggles. I do this by combining cognitive behavioral theories, emotion focused treatment, and mindfulness. With 50 years as teacher/educator, probation officer and mental health therapist, I am a member of The National Board of Certified Counselors and have been licensed in Montana, Oregon, Alaska. I am presently licensed in Washington State. I provide psychotherapy for individuals to include children, adolescents, and adults, as well as, couples and family therapy. My initial orientation began with Rogers and client-centered therapy, and moved to integrative, and recovery, utilizing client strengths moving to resilient mental health. My speciality is of a multi and cross cultural orientation given my Native American and African Heritage. I have amassed considerable experience working with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and same sex clients, and the unique psychological issues present in the Native/African American Heritage, I spent six years on The Salish/Kootenai Reservation in Montana and four years working with Alaskan Natives in Fairbanks, Alaska. My experience with adolescents has been in a residential“positive peer orientation” to include individual, group and family therapies, cross-culturally. Formal Education and Training: I hold the Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Majors in Psychology-Sociology, with (research in suicidality), Education, Theatre and Fine Arts from Western State College of Colorado; Master's Degree in Education, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado; Masters of Fine Arts from The University of Montana, with major course work in theatre and group psychotherapy to include two independent studies with Robert Ammons Senior, Psychological Test Specialists, publisher of the KTSA. I also became a certified clinical hypnotherapist as I had gained experience as a hypnotherapist with Jack and Helen Watkins, utilizing "Ego-State Therapy. Finally, I completed major course work in clinical psychology toward the PsyD, at George Fox University, Newberg, Oregon. My most recent employment was as a group therapist providing “mindfulness “ training for emotional regulation, given a varied population to include those suffering depression and anxiety as a result of PTSD associated with violence and severe abuse. This has been inclusive of anger management associated with domestic violence and bipolar disorder. My specialization with cognitive therapy with schizophrenics was experiential over a five year period wherein I collaborated with the unit psychiatrist.
Benjamin Wayburn
The issues I work with in therapy are mind-body issues. I do not have a mental illness approach. What is good for the body is good for the brain and vice versa. My openness and inclusivity influence my approach to therapy. I do not judge. I accept. I am more interested in your uniqueness than your diagnosis and I expect a full recovery in treatment. I fit well with expectations from a person who is here on their own volition, is willing and open to change, and is trying to develop resiliency in life, problem-solving without drama in relationships, and self-respect. I try my best to provide a secure space and collaborate. I take notes and I read them at the end of the session. As opposed to homework, I offer experiments to try between conversations. Depending on preference, I can be direct in helping people identify their goals by collaborating on a treatment plan. I can also be non-direct and identify our goals through the flow of the conversation. A first session with me begins with a casual greeting and formalities regarding confidentiality, rights, and risk assessment questions, followed by a lead-in question to get the ball rolling.

Cynthia Mickel
I am Leeann Mickel, I have a masters degree in educational psychology with an emphasis on community counseling. I have my LPC, licensed professional counselor Masters level. I also have an LC DC licensed chemical dependency counselor. I have worked 20 + years in the field of service. I have had great success with clients who have experienced significant trauma. I have been Clinical Supervisor for a substance abuse residential setting. I am currently Clinical Director for the agency with whom I am employed at this time. I believe it to be my mission helping and serving. My approach is client centered we start where you are. I am very laid-back and personable, I have forever been told how easy it is to talk to me, even prior to my chosen career! That’s a plus when you’re a therapist! I have some clients who simply need an ear and guidance. Others are eager to get to the cause of what prompted them to reach out. Either is great. I understand that some people need to vent and receive professional advice. I tell all of my clients you have inside you now everything you need to heal and progress. My job is to guide you on the journey in this process of self discovery and healing. I also tell my clients that I will work just as hard as you in doing this, but I will never work harder. This would cause more harm by handicapping them if others around never allow my clients to learn through experience, and rob my client of demonstrating to themselves the opportunity to see how capable they actually are. I have worked with many populations: adolescents, adults with variety of disorders/conditions. Such as mental health diagnosis like depression, bi polar, anxiety, and PTSD. For the last six years I have led our adolescent program. I'm very familiar with self harming behaviors, and have a knack of being able to reach them and slowly process into self love. I also have extensive experience with grief which may look different and feel different among different clients. Even those who believe that have mourned and grieved, but truly have not. I look forward to working with you and helping you along your specific path. My schedule is very flexible, as a I only work from home, virtually/remote. During therapy it will be common to give 'experiments' following a session. The purpose for this is taking from our sessions and applying what you learn to your 'real life' outside of one session weekly for an hour.
