I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 22 years of experience counseling primarily adults in the state of Indiana. I believe in the practice of "unconditional positive regard," meaning I will never be judgmental or shaming during my time with you. Instead, I will be sincere, engaging, supportive and encouraging you in your journey towards a better you. My experience in counseling includes those with Depression, Grief, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, Relationship issues, Abuse (sexual and domestic), Shame-based Family of Origin issues, Co-Dependency, and Addictions. In therapy I use a blend of Adlerian and Cognitive Behavioral therapies, which focuses on how our thinking, feeling, and behavior can drive dysfunctional living, and conversely, how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be changed to produce a healthier, productive lifestyle. To that end, in addition to talk therapy, I use didactic, experiential, and the use of parables to help facilitate your progress. The use of "homework" I find keeps clients engaged in the therapy process while not in session. If you choose to work with me, together we will make a plan of treatment based on your goals for seeking treatment, and I will walk with you every step of the way. I am fully aware you have tried everything else before walking through the virtual door and I respect you for your courage in seeking help at this time.

Dr. Johnnie (John) Terrell
I am a licensed psychologist in Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida. I have 38 years of experience in working with individuals and families. During my career, I have been the director of hospital units and operated private practices in three states. I have experience in working with individuals from basically all walks of life. I have assisted individuals who have struggled with depression, anxiety, grief and loss issues, trauma, career issues, OCD, ADHD, emotional abuse, and a variety of other trying and difficult life challenges. I have found that life is sometimes very tough and challenging no matter who we are or where we are on life’s journey. The core of my therapy style consists of two combined words: “grace/acceptance.” I believe that everyone deserves to be treated with the utmost kindness, acceptance, and care by someone who is safe. My life goal, not only as a psychologist but also as a human being, is to treat every person with grace and kindness. A huge aspect of my style is patience and listening. From a clinical standpoint, I would probably best be described as interpersonal and compassionate in approach. I also use cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and rational-emotive strategies and thoughts to assist in the therapeutic process. Additionally, I incorporate a host of other thoughts and strategies that I have gleaned from both secular and non-secular writers over the years. My goal is always to treat everyone as a person with differing needs, thoughts, feelings, goals, and struggles. I do not believe that one technique, strategy, or approach fits all. I am constantly learning and trying to improve so that I can better myself and others. My approach is as a professional and human who has experienced a host of challenges and struggles himself. My thrust is to help each person realize that there is hope, even if they currently feel hopeless and at wits end. Again, all of these techniques are woven into a package that I like to term as a grace (favoring whether one believes that they deserve it or not) or acceptance-oriented approach. For many individuals, it is difficult to step out and seek help; and I understand that, because I am human and have practiced in the field of psychology for more than three decades. I think that the question that often comes to our minds as we take such a risk has to do with safety, that is, will the person I talk to be safe and not judge, criticize, or think poorly of me. My goal initially is to answer that question and continue to answer it via my behaviors and comments with, “No, I will strive to make this a safe and beneficial experience for you. I will treat you with acceptance and grace in the same way that I want to be treated.” Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you. If not, please continue to search for someone that you believe can be of help to you. If you are struggling, please don’t go it alone!

Stephen Groce
My name is Stephen Groce, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Indiana. I received my BA in Psychology from Earlham College after participating and lettering in both football and track. I completed my graduate studies at Walden University, receiving a MS in Mental Health Counseling. I have over 10 years of experience in the mental health and social service arena. I’ve worked in several different clinical settings such as residential treatment facilities and acute psychiatric hospitals as well as being a member of wraparound care teams in community-based and home-based settings. I am a very flexible, caring, funny, open-minded, honest, and down to earth person. As a certified racial equity trainer and mental health advocate, I am high on respect; respect for my clients, myself, the counseling process, for who you are and who you want to be. I am grounded in my faith in God, but I understand there are so many different perspectives, based on our own experiences and upbringing, that I have learned to be a student of life and understand that there are many ways to accomplish a goal. My goal as a counselor is to help you identify and understand what works for you and help create strategies that helps you meet your goal(s). My counseling style combines several theoretical approaches including but not limited to (trauma focused) cognitive-behavioral, reality, solution focused, and client-centered therapy as well as motivational interviewing. I tailor my approach to what works for my client based on what they need and what will help them meet their goals as quickly and effectively as possible. I am authentically me and I hope to help you become the best version of yourself.

I have a passion to work with people who need therapy. I am excited to keep working in the field of counseling. My specialties include, trauma counseling, grief work, anxiety disorders, depression and LGBTQ issues. I specifically love to take Trauma cases and people who have anxiety disorders. After 27 years of working in the mental health field, in 3 different countries, I have an appreciation for the fact that life rarely goes according to plan. Perhaps you’re struggling with feeling anxious, depressed, misunderstood, or unfulfilled with some part of your life, or you find yourself longing for deeper, more meaningful relationships. Maybe you’ve lived through traumatic events, whether recent or long past, that have changed you in ways you don’t understand, caused you to react unpredictably, or even made you feel like a stranger to yourself and you’re struggling to cope. Although the idea of making changes can seem overwhelming and scary, sometimes the best way out is through, and you don’t have to face the journey alone. As a therapist, I believe in meeting you where you’re at without judgment; I will walk alongside you with compassion and empathy, and I will help you figure out your own unique way forward. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic models and practices, and I am willing to use whatever tools and methods work best to help you. I practice primarily from a Gestalt model, where you are the expert on yourself, and I am here to help guide you on your journey of self-exploration and healing. Gestalt work often incorporates evidence-based approaches, such as mindfulness and movement, Polyvagal work, guided imagery, co-regulation – all to bring about a sense of safety and build trust together, so you can tell your truth without feeling shamed, judged or revictimized. As we work together, I hope to help relieve feelings of discomfort and identify patterns that aren’t working for you. It is important to me that my clients feel safe and respected as whole people with unique perspectives and diverse backgrounds. I am honored every time a client trusts me with the truth of their lived experience. I am open to looking at things through your eyes and I strive to be respectful and welcoming of whatever makes you uniquely yourself (incl. gender, LGBTQIA+, family/country of origin, race, religion, neurodivergence, intergenerational trauma, etc.). My clinical personality is warm, thoughtful, empathetic, careful, and I value going at your own pace. I think it’s important not to make assumptions about my clients - I like taking the time to listen your unique themes and imagery, and I enjoy learning your patterns and hearing your stories, all of which helps me to better understand who you are, where you’ve been, and what you’re hoping to accomplish. I also believe there is no “one true way” – there are as many pathways to healing and wholeness as there are people walking them. My hope is that after working together, you will feel like you are able to be more comfortable in your own skin and you will be better able to make genuine connections with the environment that you are in, and with the people who matter most to you. The first step is often the most difficult, and the process of beginning therapy with a new person can seem daunting. The fact that you’re here, reading this, means you’ve already found the courage to take that first step. I would be honored to walk with you on the next part of your journey, and regardless of what you choose to do next, remember that you are already Unbroken. Please feel free to contact me for an initial 15-minute phone or telehealth session (at no charge) to discuss whether we might be a good fit/next steps. I look forward to hearing from you and wish you the best!

I am a licensed mental health counselor in Indiana and have worked both in an inpatient psychiatric setting as well as outpatient counseling practice. I take what is known as a "positive psychology" approach to therapy knowing that each individual has personal strengths that they can pull from to continue to grow and improve both personally and professionally. I have experience in helping clients with mood difficulties, stress management, relationship issues, motivation with life change and adjustments, and self-esteem and confidence. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment, and the client takes the primary lead in setting therapy goals. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage but it is such an enriching and empowering part of life's journey. I look forward to working with you.
