Welcome and hello! My Name is Adam and I am an Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I am also a nationally board-certified counselor (NCC) and school counselor (NCSC). I have experience working with children as young as 6 and adults as old as 76, and everything in between! For the past decade, I have worked in various settings with teens, college students, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse and addiction, relationship and family conflicts, grief and loss, and life transitions. I help people through the lens of narrative therapy, which means you and I will start our time together talking about your personal stories – the people, the places, and the experiences that make up who you are – and as time progresses, we will process the themes of these stories and how you understand the way the impact your life. I also use strategies and techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI). In simple terms, most of my work has been supporting incredible people who are experiencing distressing life circumstances and transitions. I have witnessed many of these people successfully navigate these challenges and thrive through the counseling process. If you are struggling with diagnosed mental health difficulties or just a hard season of your life, I would be honored to support and help you discover healing and growth. I look forward to working with you!

I earned my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling in 2014 from Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have 10 total years of experience in the mental health and behavioral health field, and I have worked with a variety of populations including young children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and have experience working with individuals, families, couples, and groups addressing issues ranging from anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, anger management, behavioral issues/oppositional defiance, ADHD, Autism, issues with social interactions and/or social phobias, Bipolar disorder, relationship issues, family conflict, and parenting issues. My therapeutic approach is based on the client’s needs, and I believe there is no one therapy approach that works for everyone, as we are all different and unique individuals. I believe it is important to meet clients where they are, and work collaboratively together towards established goals. I believe in being open and honest in sessions to assist clients with gaining the feedback and assistance they need in making the changes that will better their lives. I believe the client-therapist relationship is extremely important, and there must be a good sense of trust, honesty, and teamwork between therapist and client for therapy to be productive and for goals to be achieved. ELIZABETH CASEY - COUNSELOR, MAPC, LPC ABOUT One of my favorite writers, Henri Nouwen said, “Your future depends on how you remember your past.” This quote holds the foundation of my approach to therapy. I have leaned through the years that there is much to be said for the beliefs about oneself that are tangled up in traumatic memories. I have become certified in EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING or EMDR as a way to shed usually negative self-beliefs that can become cemented to a memory. It is not about forgetting that memory as much as it is to relearn positive beliefs about oneself and attach them to the memory. I understand that approaching counseling for many can be overwhelming. It is not easy to begin the task of self-exploration. However, for those who do, I firmly believe the reward is worth it. The reward can be an ability to recognize the strengths within that allow us to face the stress and obstacles that life inevitably throws our way. Another of my favorite quotes is “Life is not waiting for the storm to pass; it is learning how to dance in the rain.” I utilize an eclectic approach, including EMDR when appropriate, combining several different counseling methods with a down to earth style. I tailor the therapeutic process to your needs work with you to identify goals that are attainable. I specialize in creating connections. Connections that we all innately strive to achieve. These connections may be hindered by grief and loss, or difficulties with attachment that may be a result of adoption or bonding issues. I passionately believe that many emotional issues are the result of unrecognized or unresolved loss. These responses make healthy relationship building difficult. My background professionally and personally in adoption allow me to offer insights into bonding and attachment difficulties in past and present relationships. Depression and anxiety certainly are issues that one can develop from the experience of past trauma or anxious attachment. I am a seasoned counselor, which is a polite way of saying well aged. After obtaining my BA degree in Psychology from Moravian College I worked with various social service agencies starting in the 1980’s. This led to working more directly with people suffering the acute results of mental illness in an inpatient setting. I then worked in adoption field preparing both families and children for relationship building. I obtained my master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling in 2008. This allows me to join with you if you choose to explore a spiritually based journey. I obtained my licensed professional counseling designation in 2011 and followed a path to private practice. This experience brings with it the ability to quickly assess situations as well as solutions. I enjoy working with adults and couples. I strive to connect in a way that enables you to find the confidence that is within yourself to live an emotionally rich life!

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania. I have been in the Social Work field for over 14 years and I have been doing individual, family, couples, and group therapy for several years as well. I have extensive experience working with people who are dealing with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, marital/relationship issues, hoarding behavior, and those who are having difficulty achieving the goals they have set for themselves. I consider it a blessing that I have the opportunity to work with so many diverse people and help them to achieve whatever it is they believe will enrich their lives. My approach is person-centered, as I do not believe that I am an "expert" on any other person but myself. However, I do believe I possess some of the tools needed to help others to discover how to make the journey from illness to wellness. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary approach. I am also a certified Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) group facilitator. I find that both of these approaches compliment each other well and they both allow the individual to determine the best course of action for themselves. I liken my technique to this metaphor: We are on a journey together. You are in the driver's seat, I am holding the road map. I can make suggestions on where to go or what to avoid to get to the destination you have chosen, but ultimately it is your decision where you end up. I believe that giving each individual person the opportunity to make healthy choices and take personal responsibility for his or her own health is paramount in someone's ultimate success. Yes, we all stumble and make poor choices sometimes; however, I believe that I can help to guide others in a gentle but firm way that will encourage and build upwards toward success. Working in a clinical setting, I often see how the "system" fails people. I am excited about an opportunity to do what I love to do in a different setting and overcome some of those clinical challenges. It takes a lot of courage to make the first step toward recovery and wellness. I am honored to be a helping hand in that process!

How to find a therapist for counseling in Lilly

Finding the best therapist close by in Lilly can feel challenging, but know that once you narrow your search for a counselor serving your area, you can find a therapist in your city that is accepting new clients and fits your goals. Whether you're struggling with depression, anxiety, marriage, family issues, or other emotional challenges, feel proud that you have begun your search to find the mental health care services in Lilly that work best for you in order to begin your personal journey towards emotional healing with a therapist.

Understanding the type of therapy you'd like to search for is crucial before finding a therapist or psychologist in Lilly. Perhaps you're interested in narrowing your search for a psychotherapist that can offer psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), talk therapy, provide group therapy, marriage and family therapy for individuals or couples, or couples therapy. Each type of therapy can offer various benefits and address or treat different disorders. If you're still unsure or are new to counseling in Lilly, feel free to contact the provider via email to find out which methods they practice.

It is also important to understand that mental health professionals in the United States are accredited to provide care, helping individuals and couples, with a variety of licenses. These include licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and clinical psychologist or doctor of psychology (PsyD). Regardless of their licensure, they are trained to treat individuals and couples counseling, and sometimes children, in any type of therapy in the Lilly region and in the state of Pennsylvania. Find a therapist under any of these distinctions and know that the sessions they offer can provide a safe place to heal.

A mental health counselor working through their own in-person therapy practice in Lilly or online may assist clients in improving healthy relationships, communication skills, working through life transitions, couples counseling, managing a mood disorder, improving coping skills, self help tips, offer life coaching, family therapy, or change in negative thinking patterns. A therapist may also provide a safe place and validation for clients experiencing emotional pain, or that simply want a psychological assessment. Verified providers can provide licensed marriage and couples therapy, tailor to individual needs, and create a therapeutic relationship as a National Certified Counselor.

There are all kinds of therapists working with clients today across the United States and in the greater Lilly area in different types of therapy, including:

  • CBT
  • DBT
  • Substance use therapy
  • Couples therapy

When you're ready to start your search and find Lilly therapists, have in mind what type of therapy you'd like your provider to be most experienced with and choose an experienced provider with a practice located near you in the city of Lilly, elsewhere in Cambria, or in the greater state of Pennsylvania.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about therapists and mental health services

Some other commonly asked questions on therapy with a licensed counselor and BetterHelp serving the Lilly area can be found below:

How does the cost of in-person counseling with a therapist compare to the cost of BetterHelp with a licensed Lilly therapist?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Lilly due to a higher cost of living. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

  • Counseling with a psychiatrist: $150-$500
  • Counseling with therapists: $100-300
  • Therapy with a psychologist: $100

While many psychologists in Lilly may not take health insurance, some in the state of Pennsylvania may work on a sliding scale, meaning they'll factor in your income and charge what you can afford per session. With a BetterHelp therapist throughout the state of Pennsylvania you can expect significantly more affordable options, with sessions ranging from $65 to $100 per week (billed every four weeks). If you're looking for a therapist, Cincinnati offers a variety of professionals who can help with your mental health needs at a price you can afford.

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Lilly?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a Lilly therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Lilly therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Lilly therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A Lilly therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in PA, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 15938 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Lilly counselor?

Before seeing your Lilly therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy in Lilly.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice from a therapist. A Lilly licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy with a Lilly counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Lilly, Pennsylvania can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Lilly has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online therapy to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
