Welcome, my name is Trudy. I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), and I have been working in the field of mental health for over 18 years. I love what I do, and that is why I do it. Education: Walden University - Human Services Administration - Graduate Certificate - 2014 University of Arkansas-Little Rock - Social Work - MSW - 2007 University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff - Social Work - BSW - 2005 Experience: I have worked primarily in the outpatient treatment setting, with individuals with a variety of mental health and stress-related issues since 2005. My journey working in mental health began with a co-ed inpatient substance abuse treatment facility where I taught relaxation techniques, anger management, stress reduction, and coping strategies. From there, I evolved into the outpatient community mental health arena. I have served as an on-call therapist, group therapist, individual therapist, family therapist, and couples/marriage therapist. I have significant experience in dealing with self-harm and alternative coping strategies as well. While I have worked with all diagnoses, I have a passion for stress reduction, relaxation, depression, anxiety, and grief counseling. I lean toward Cognitive Behavior Therapy(CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/Tapping), but I also have experience with Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). I teach meditation techniques and mindfulness practices. I am also a certified Reiki Master, a Life Coach, and an active member of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology. Hello! Seeking help is often very hard. Everyone needs support at some point and it takes a lot of courage to step out. I respect those who do so a great deal! Thank you for taking the time to consider me as a helper. While it is important to understand about my credentials and approach to therapy, it is also important that you know I respect you and I will be very careful about our counseling relationship. Your health and growth are important to me. I have had successful experience in addressing trauma, foster/adoption-related issues, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, family crisis, and other areas of practice. I have practiced as a counselor since graduating with my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University in 2001. I am currently licensed in Arkansas, Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Texas. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families in residential and outpatient settings. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and principles of Emotion Focused Therapy, all with an overarching Systemic perspective, when working with clients. In the online setting, I will tend to also use some Solution-Focused techniques as well. Much of the basis of my thinking comes from my faith. While I will never intentionally impose my belief system on you, it is important that you know that it is a big part of my personal identity, which I believe cannot be fully separated from counseling work. Whether you chose to work with me or another therapist, I hope you do find what works for you. I believe there is always hope, no matter how small it seems. I know that you have more tools than you feel like you do. I'd love to have the opportunity to help you dig in and find it in your life!

I am an Arkansas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), also referred to as a psychotherapist. I live in Conway, Arkansas where I own and operate Jones Counseling Services – Mental Health Empowerment, LLC. I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults who have a variety of presenting problems including but not limited to anxiety, depression, abuse of any type, trauma, low self-esteem, identity issues, relationship and/or family problems. I believe making decision to seek help in overcoming one’s mental health problems is the most difficult and the most important decision to make work through and resolve your problems that require the assistance of a trained mental health professional like me to help you overcome and resolve your problem(s). That is one of the reasons why I believe a positive client-psychotherapist relationship is essential for the client to successfully their presenting problems whether individually or groups. I have 20 plus years of experience in helping clients in various settings including my office, their homes, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, community and state agencies, and by virtual online therapy. My approach is based primarily on Carl Rogers’ cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach that I modify to meet the unique individual needs of every client I see. I do not try to solve my clients’ problems. Instead, I help each client identify and learn how to solve their problems. I help my clients figure out the solutions to their problems, and I make sure they know and understand both the good and bad consequences of any decision they make. Whether you need brief therapy (one or two sessions), short-term therapy (three to ten sessions), or long-term therapy (more than 10 sessions); I work closely with each of my clients for as long as it takes to help them overcome and/or resolve the problems that brought them to therapy. I like to meet with each of my clients once every on a regular schedule. I understand that sometimes my clients will need to meet twice a week and others will need to meet once every two weeks. I am flexible. I believe a therapeutic client/psychotherapist relationship is essential to for anyone to overcome and resolve their problems with the help of their psychotherapist. It is important for each of my clients and me to build the positive rapport we need to respect and trust each other. With that in mind, I do not judge my clients by ethnicity, race, political or religious views, and gender or sexual preferences. This approach gives me the opportunity to learn and grow as much from each of my clients as they do from me while I help them work through and resolve their problems. Respectfully yours, F. Dunn Jones, MA, LPC, NBCC, ABDD

7 years of experience as a mental health therapist

My name is Michelle and I am a therapist in the state of Arkansas. I started my career out as an elementary teacher while I was in graduate school. For the last several years I have been a therapist in a variety of settings(clinic, hospital, Private Practice, Community Mental Health). During this time I have worked in every level of care (outpatient, inpatient, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient) with all age groups. I have worked with depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, eating disorders/disordered eating, body image concerns, Bipolar disorder, impulse control issues, relationship issues, parenting problems (behavior, children with disabilities), career challenges, OCD, personality disorders and am very familiar with the ins and outs of military life. I love the Golden Girls, crafting, hiking, camping, spending time with family and softball. I have two dogs and a cat who sometimes make an appearance on screen. My husband and I have been together for several years and are foster parents. We have one son who we will hopefully be adopting (and his siblings) soon. I have personally struggled with my own mental health for the majority of my life and I utilize the skills that I teach my clients regularly. I have the experience of dealing with things professionally and personally for many situations. I do therapy differently than many therapists. I am of the philosophy that therapy should be customized to each individuals needs so I do not prescribe to any particular method. This is your time and space to use as you need. If you need it please let me know and I will do my best make reasonable accommodations. I like to take a practical approach to things and focus on addressing the issues that are causing the most distress first. How we do therapy is going to be based on what you need. If you prefer live chat, video or phone sessions (one 30 or 45 minute session a week) is included in your plan. You are able to book sessions on your end through the scheduling tab but I am more than happy to help book a session if you would like. In addition you are able to send an unlimited number of messages. You can message me anytime and I will check my messages throughout the day as I am able. Please keep in mind that this is an asynchronous messaging service. I typically work Monday-Friday during normal business hours. I try to respond to messages as many times a day as I am able but will respond at least once a day. If at any point you feel this platform is not right for you or you are unable to afford it please let me know. It might be possible for me to see you outpatient or help refer you to someone who can for continued support. My goal is to come to you, where you are, without judgement. I offer unconditional love and support while actively challenging behaviors. With support you decide what to address and how we do it. This might be for a short time to learn coping skills or a partnership that lasts many years. We capitalize on your strengths to help you grow and live the best life possible. Let me meet you where you are. Life is hard and we all struggle but you do not have to do it alone. I am prepared to get down in the trenches with you to fight for the life that you deserve. Healing is possible and I can help.

Hello! I'm so glad you are here! If you are ready to make some changes in life that are likely to result in improved mental health, improved quality of life, and general well being; you came to the right place! My approach in counseling is in general to look at the person as a whole; not as their symptoms of problems. I use holistic, solution focused, and trauma informed models to engage client's in the counseling process and achieve their goals. I have been trained in trauma informed approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); which uses several tools to help client's negative past events have less emotional impact on their lives. I am also certified in a counseling approach called seed digging therapy (SD), which is developed off the therapy developed in the 90's called theophostic therapy. The premise of seed digging therapy (SD) is that each individual is generally mostly good, has a desire to be good to others, and wants to have a happy and productive life. The model states that a person's heart is a "garden" which in analogy has "weeds" and "flowers". Traumatic/Sad events tend to produce weeds and Happy events tend to produce flowers. Weeds in a persons heart can cause many negative reactions in life ranging from interpersonal relationships, self esteem, negative view of the world. Weeds occur when a lie is believed about that sad/bad event. Examples of weeds: not feeling adequate, feeling unloved, feeling a lack of importance. Flowers are developed when something happens that is positive/ good, and the individual believes something good about themselves. Examples of flowers: I do matter, I am important, I am loved, I belong in this group, family, friendship etc. The process of seed digging therapy is to find where the root of the negative thoughts started, and create an alternate belief opposite of the negative. Using narrative techniques, the person has the opportunity to recreate meaning if they want to. I am very excited to meet you, get to know you and help see you to the other side of where you want to be. If you would like to work more with me, we can talk more about your goals and what steps to take to get there.

Understanding the type of therapy you'd like to search for is crucial before finding a therapist or psychologist in Rector. Perhaps you're interested in narrowing your search for a psychotherapist that can offer psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), talk therapy, provide group therapy, marriage and family therapy for individuals or couples, or couples therapy. Each type of therapy can offer various benefits and address or treat different disorders. If you're still unsure or are new to counseling in Rector, feel free to contact the provider via email to find out which methods they practice.

It is also important to understand that mental health professionals in the United States are accredited to provide care, helping individuals and couples, with a variety of licenses. These include licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and clinical psychologist or doctor of psychology (PsyD). Regardless of their licensure, they are trained to treat individuals and couples counseling, and sometimes children, in any type of therapy in the Rector region and in the state of Arkansas. Find a therapist under any of these distinctions and know that the sessions they offer can provide a safe place to heal.

A mental health counselor working through their own in-person therapy practice in Rector or online may assist clients in improving healthy relationships, communication skills, working through life transitions, couples counseling, managing a mood disorder, improving coping skills, self help tips, offer life coaching, family therapy, or change in negative thinking patterns. A therapist may also provide a safe place and validation for clients experiencing emotional pain, or that simply want a psychological assessment. Verified providers can provide licensed marriage and couples therapy, tailor to individual needs, and create a therapeutic relationship as a National Certified Counselor.

There are all kinds of therapists working with clients today across the United States and in the greater Rector area in different types of therapy, including:

  • CBT
  • DBT
  • Substance use therapy

How does the cost of in-person counseling with a therapist compare to the cost of BetterHelp with a licensed Rector therapist?

The average price of an in-person therapy session in the US is $100 to $200 per hour. These prices may be higher in Rector due to a higher cost of living. The price also depends on the type of provider you are looking for. See the following average prices for various mental health providers without insurance:

How do I know if online counseling is right for my family in Rector?

One of the potentially rewarding aspects of working with a Rector therapist is the validation and active listening they can provide. Your friends and loved ones may also be available to listen, but you may feel that they may lack the skills to provide objective guidance. Counselors are trained to respond to various concerns, symptoms, and mental health conditions.

Rector therapists in your city can support you toward a healthier emotional state, regardless of your mental health, life concerns, or healing needs. While supporting individuals in developing healthier habits, another good benefit of Rector therapy is having an understanding, safe space with a non-judgmental party who can support you through challenging experiences.

Many people have sensitive topics that they may feel ashamed to discuss with their friends or partner. A Rector therapist can help you confront these concerns and open up through unique methods of support. There are also many types of therapy, such as art therapy, where you may find you can express yourself through creativity instead of words with a psychotherapist.

With a lot of people in AR, therapists may be booked out with clients. Through the list of profiles above and others within BetterHelp's team, you may be able to find a psychologist within 24 to 48 hours. If you're searching to find a a nearby psychotherapist close to 72461 or the surrounding zip codes, consider others available through the BetterHelp site. No matter if you are seeking help from therapists in your area or beyond, online therapy can be a great option.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session with a Rector counselor?

Before seeing your Rector therapist, prep for your session by reading to understand the therapy process. You might write a list of questions you want to ask your psychotherapist, any emotional pain you may feel, and the ways in which you hope to improve. When you attend your session, let them know if you have any concerns about therapy or feel unsure about what to talk about. They may help guide you with open-ended therapeutic questions while offering mental health services. The first session will often serve as an intake to get to know you as a person and learn why you're attending therapy in Rector.

Should I find a therapist or psychologist for therapy if I feel fine?

Some simply don't feel the need to see a psychologist. However, some people may avoid attending therapy due to stigma or preconceived notions of what therapy entails. Although psychologists often support people with mental health conditions, you do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy. You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general feedback and advice from a therapist. A Rector licensed clinical social worker may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Gaining a new perspective on yourself through various therapies might allow you to improve your self-esteem, work through relationships, and gain a better sense of your mental health goals. The success you may find through therapy with a Rector counselor can be dependent on your process.

People may also attend therapy for specific motives, such as bullying, an autism diagnosis, a desire to learn mindfulness meditation, personality concerns, trouble with office workers, specific phobias, and many other principles that a counselor can help with.

Is mental health care and therapy with a therapist worth it?

Therapy with a licensed counselor is effective and has the power to change individuals' lives. Each client is at a different stage of their emotional healing journey in life, as each human can be unique in their personality, expression, skills, and goals. A psychologist can target various symptoms, experiences, and personalities to help you feel your best and put you on the path to healing. Unlike advice from a friend, family, or non-professional, a mental health therapist has an understanding of various disorders like ADHD and depression with many hours of experience in treating adults in their practice. For this reason, seeing an evidence based psychologist in Rector, Arkansas can be worth it. Over 41 million adults in the US attend therapy services each year, showing it's a popular option and is proven to be effective.

Rector has many clinicians who practice person or client-centered individual therapy in-person and through online therapy to assist clients in their healing journey. If you opt into online therapy, you might also be able to meet with providers all over the United States and change therapists easily at any time. Many people struggling with anxiety and depression, substance abuse, body image issues, and more find therapists that are a good fit for them, feel supported, and gain further insight into their lives through internet-based therapy.

Do therapists judge you in therapy sessions during telehealth appointments?

The boundaries between you and a therapist are in place to help you and them regarding ethical concerns. Mental health professionals are held by ethical standards through the American Psychological Association (APA) and are not allowed to judge or harm their clients. If you are concerned about sharing details about yourself, feel free to withhold personal information. Their job in the therapeutic relationship is to create a safe place, help you gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, and support you. You might consider changing counselors if you don't feel safe or respected.
