Thank you for your question. To qualify legally for an Emotional Support Animal letter, you must have a diagnosis for a mental health condition. Such conditions may include social anxiety, depression, PTSD, or OCD. The condition should be severe enough to qualify as a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Unfortunately, due to the telehealth nature of the Better Help platform, providers are unable to provide Emotional Support Animal letter's. You would need to get in contact with a licensed/certified mental health professional and explain to them why you think an emotional support animal would improve your therapy and the reason why you would like them to live with you in housing where they are not otherwise permitted or travel with you. If the licensed professional sees a legitimate need for an Emotional Support Animal, he or she will be delighted to write you an Emotional Support Animal letter. If you have insurance, you could contact your insurance provider to request that a list of providers who are able to supply an Emotional Support Animal letter for you in your area. You can also do research online to find therapeutic agencies who offer them online. Another suggestion would be contacting your doctor to see if that may be something they could provide as well. ESA doctors will send your emotional support animal recommendation letter within 2-5 business days of getting approved. Your letter can be used for air travel, apartment buildings, and additional housing situations and a host of other scenarios. You would have to speak with your provider about your specific needs for the Emotional Support Animal letter. Also, be sure that whomever you get the ESA letter from that it will be accepted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Overall, when researching an ESA provider, you just want to make sure that the licensed mental health professional specializes in proper ESA letters that will be accepted legally. I hope this answer provides the clarification that you were looking for. You can always pose another question if you need more assistance or guidance on this matter.
