How is ptsd cured?

I have ptsd, I’m bipolar and none of my medications work. How can I get help with this? Nothing has worked and I’m more anxious than ever. I worry constantly and shake.

Hi, thanks for reaching out.  I'm sorry to hear that you are having a rough time lately.

Medication management is a tricky thing, especially if there are multiple diagnoses and symptom presentations between them.  Finding a psychiatrist who will hear you out, work with you to target what you feel is most important to target, and that supports you during times where you are trying to stabilize on medication is really important. If you haven't had luck finding one, or don't feel like you have made a good connection with ones you've had, there are some out there that have more of a holistic approach, which may be beneficial to look in to.

If you haven't already been working with a therapist, it probably is a good idea to look into finding one that provides individual and possibly group therapy as well.  It should be someone who knows how to work with trauma to address the struggles you are having or have had with the PTSD, along with someone who can offer strategies to help with management of anxiety and symptoms related to bipolar disorder.  Someone who can provide EMDR therapy or DBT in individual or group formats may be especially helpful for you.

It can be really frustrating and scary to feel like you are anxious all of the time, to the point of constant worry and physical shaking. That is not a good way to live your life and I'm sure your quality of life is greatly affected by it.  This is a time for you to take control of your symptom management and advocate for yourself and what you need.  Look into finding a psychiatrist and therapist who you trust and that will support what you need to address, and be confident that you know what you want and need from those people.  Also find a support network for yourself, people who are willing to listen to you and help you when things get extra hard. Unfortunately there is no "cure" for PTSD, but it can be very well managed if you push yourself to work through your past trauma and move forward.

I wish you the best, and feel free to reach out if you need anything in the future!
