How can I stop being insecure?
Thank you for your question.
A 6 year relationship is a significant amount of time to be with someone, and having a young child together makes this even more difficult for both of you - perhaps in both practical terms and also in emotional terms as well, as you have to try to navigate co-parenting which means that a relationship of sorts, or at least some kind of communication, needs to be in place.
There isn't a lot of background as to what has gone on, although you do say that you think she has stopped talking to you because she is hurting. It sounds like giving her space to understand how she is feeling would be a good start, as it sounds like she needs a bit of time to come to terms with things - the end of a relationship is often similar to feelings of grief. Perhaps she is feeling angry and doesn't feel ready to engage with you yet. As time goes on and you both reach acceptance, perhaps you will be able to be on friendlier terms.
I'm curious as to how you are feeling, as you only mention what is going on for your ex, in terms of her not wanting to talk and feeling hurt - how are you feeling, what has happened in the relationship to lead to this point - is there any reflections you can make that would facilitate making things easier for the relationship going forward? There are lots of different factors that could be affecting how well your ex can move forward - has she got a support network around her such as family and friends? In practical terms, is she worried about her living situation/finances? Was the end of the relationship particularly difficult for her - for instance, did she not want the relationship to end? Was there some kind of betrayal involved? Certain things may keep her in the anger stage of loss for longer, before she can move on to accepting things.
At the moment, I would try to provide her with space rather than trying to get her to engage, as pushing this may antagonize the situation further. Perhaps communication that focuses just on practicalities is what is needed at the moment, so things around your daughter. Perhaps once trust is re-established, you might be able to start talking more openly again.
I'm curious as to what is going on for you though - how are you feeling about the end of the relationship?
