Why attraction is important?

What each person finds attractive varies exponentially. Each person’s rules of attraction are influenced by others' physical appearance, personality, and behavior. These things demonstrate what that person likes and admires. Attraction is the phenomenon that pushes people toward one another. Most people will not approach someone they find unattractive to become part of their life, whether romantic or platonic. Attraction is important because it opens the door, allows us to see past minor flaws, and keeps the connection over time. 

Opens The Door

As stated, people do not approach individuals they consider unattractive. This rule applies to clothes, food, animals, and more. People naturally cringe and step away from things they find unappealing. The complete opposite happens when there is an attraction. It can feel like a magnetic pull towards that person. The attraction allows the chance to get to know each other on a deeper level and even consider a possible relationship. It opens the door to strengthen the attraction from the person's personality and behavior. Attraction is vital because it is the first stage in dating and relationships. 

Minor Flaws

Everyone has minor flaws or behaviors that other people find annoying. Attraction can help in accepting those minor flaws. If a person has a habit of cracking their knuckles or joints incessantly, this would be very annoying. However, as long as the attraction is there, this can be seen as a minor annoyance. The attraction is a reminder of all positive traits about the person, and it helps with accepting the good with the bad. No one is perfect, and the attraction makes that acceptable. 

Ongoing Connection

Attraction plays a significant role in intimacy and sex drive in long-term relationships. Over the years, the feelings in long-term relationships evolve. Affection and sex become a rarity in the relationship, especially if the attraction is gone. Studies have shown that couples could be angry with each other or even not like each other at the moment, but if the attraction is there, they can still have sex with each other. Attraction is the first stage in a relationship, and it is the lasting stage in a long-term relationship.
