How do I get better?
Hello and thanks for reaching out to this part of the platform. While it is never meant to be a substitute for individual therapy, it is a place to get an initial response to your concerns. I am certainly happy to offer you that.
To begin with, I do suggest that you look at getting weekly individual sessions for yourself. This would give you the opportunity to share more information with a licensed professional who would be happy to help you process your feelings and implement coping strategies and reduce your symptoms related to the anxiety you are feeling.
I also highly suggest that you please share with your primary care physician what your symptoms are. They can help you rule out anything that could be medical, for example, a possible deficiency in vitamins, which could be contributing to what you are experiencing.
Some of the things that you might find are helpful to begin with are:
Keeping a journal- this will help you to see patterns in your thoughts and feelings. You might also want to write about your gratitude each day. This can be any amount of things that you are grateful for. For instance: a cup of coffee, hearing the birds sing, a text to or from a loved one, or hearing a favorite song on the radio.
Often times, utilizing skills related to mindfulness can be helpful. Mindfulness pertains to being aware of the present moment. It often integrates using the senses. For example 2 2 2, is a concept pertaining to:
naming two things that you can see in your physical environment
naming two things that you can touch in your physical environment
naming two things that you can hear in your physical environment
You might find that in using this skill, you notice less anxiety in the moment.
Again, I wish you the best. Thanks for reaching out.
