Why dating is hard?

Dating can be such a fun process that people go through in which they get to connect to a variety of personalities.  Although it can be a lot of fun, dating can be really difficult at times.  One main reason dating is so hard is that you have to sort through so many different personalities when you are dating.  While that aspect can be fun, it can also be very confusing and exhausting at times.  As you meet so many different personalities, knowing what you really like versus what you do not like can get confusing.  As you meet more and more people, they can start to blend, and it can feel overwhelming to find someone you truly want.  Also, when you get your hopes up about someone being a certain type of personality and then finding out that they are not that way, that can be really defeating, and that defeat can start to project itself on future dates. 

Another part of dating that is so hard is that people have various expectations and desires for dating.  At face value, it might look like everyone willing to go on a date wants to date and possibly be in a relationship. However, people go into dating for a variety of reasons that are not always clear. For example, people sometimes date purely to hook up with others and have no intention of seriously dating someone.  This can be not easy to sort through, especially when people are not transparent about what they really want.

The dating process can take up a lot of time in someone’s life, and that can be difficult to balance between the other areas of someone’s life.  Typically, people will need to balance work, friends, family, hobbies, etc., and finding the time for all of that plus the time for dating can be really challenging.  On top of all of that, the rejection that we sometimes experience when dating can lead to a lack of motivation, which can be hard to push through.
