Do you take insurance?

I’m interested in starting up sessions. I was wondering if you take insurance because I use Blue Shield. Let me know if that would be possible thank you.

Hi, I am glad you are interested in seeking help. To my knowledge, BetterHelp operates on a subscription model. Their fees range from $60 to $80 weekly and are billed monthly. You'll be charged between $240 and $320 monthly via a credit card or PayPal. To learn more, please click https://www.betterhelp.com/faq/ and check under the heading: "How much does it cost?"

The subscription includes the following:

  • unlimited text messaging with your counselor
  • unlimited audio messaging with your counselor
  • one live weekly video session with your counselor

Financial aid is available. BetterHelp will ask you to complete a short survey about your employment status and monthly income to check your eligibility.

Online therapy offers access to mental health information and treatment to people in rural or remote areas. Those who live in such areas might not have access to any other form of mental health treatment because there are limited or no mental health practices in their location.

Having to drive long distances and take significant time out of a busy schedule to seek therapy can burden many people needing help. If you have reliable internet access, online therapy gives you relatively quick and easy access to treatment that might not have been readily available.

Online therapy is usually relatively affordable and convenient. Since you will be attending therapy sessions online in the comfort of your own home, you can often schedule your therapy sessions for the most convenient times.

Today, many states require insurance providers to cover online therapy just as traditional therapy sessions. Contact your insurance company to learn more about how your policy will cover e-therapy treatments.

Therapists who only treat patients online likely have fewer overhead costs, such as renting office space. Therefore, online therapists can often offer affordable treatment options for those not covered by health insurance.

That being said, there is the possibility that your insurance company may be willing to reimburse you for some of the cost. If I were you, I would call your insurance company and ask what your benefits are for mental health and see if a program like Better Help is reimbursable.
