I received a masters degree, bachelors degree, and aging certificate from Florida Atlantic University. I graduated with highest honors from the college of social work. I have dedicated half my life to the field of mental health, in particular, codependency and empowerment. I completed my internships and was hired by a local hospice. My specialties there were grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger. My treatment approach is rather laid back, but is set on the foundation of having a therapeutic relationship, to include using theory's such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness. It has been an honor and privilege to assist people through some of the most difficult times of their lives. I love to watch people grow and become empowered to make their own life choices and decisions.

“During these times, it may be hard for you to see all the little things we do to avoid intimacy. Instead of clinginess, try support. Instead of agonizing, try releasing. Self-pity is just sadness in the pejorative.”- Renata Adler. As an experienced clinician with almost twenty years of promoting “the bigger picture,” I understand the inevitable strains of societal pressures and mounting anxieties that precipitate today’s emotional supply and demand. And moreover, how our immediate environments (both personal and professional), less than secure attachments, and unresolved traumas tend to strip us of our inherent worth and propagate low self-esteem. Our pasts can slowly rob us from our intrinsic worth and freedoms if we aren’t careful. Let’s remain vigilant to our reactionary minds that sometimes cause us to flail in unnecessary despair. I have applied psychodynamic, existential, humanistic, CBT, strength-based, inner child workings, and trauma focused therapies within acute psychiatric and multiple behavioral health settings for most of all my career. Since graduating with my Bachelors Degree in 2006, then Masters Degree in 2010 and eventually gaining licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in 2014, I also have learned and grown from the beautifully destructive cycles of life. I respect the individual in relation to their environment and offer my utmost sincerity and earnest attempts at a full understanding of the person as a whole being, from start to never finish. I utilize humor and impersonations as a form of stress relief. I will comfortably guide you to embrace the normality of your dysfunctions while highlighting the uniqueness of life, so you can begin to feel a little less consumed. I am an attentive listener with a tender spot for all of humankind. I truly hope I am granted the privilege of working with you.

Having experienced the benefit of being born and raised in Brooklyn, NY I was gifted with exposure to a varied cultural base. My first work engagement in the mental health field occurred in 1996. The facility was a medicaid based dual diagnosis treatment center with the primary diagnoses psychiatric with a secondary substance use disorder. My interactions with the patients flowed naturally and, in my discussions with staff, the owner of the facility suggested that I should get my license in mental health counseling. I began graduate study in 1998 while working full time in varied facilities in order to gain maximum exposure to diverse mental health/substance abuse modalities. My work experience included the Palm Beach County psychiatric crisis stabilization unit, The Drug Abuse Foundation in Delray Beach and the Juvenile Intervention Facility in Broward County. Upon graduation in 2000 and license activation I spent time as a therapist at the Renaissance Institute in Boca Raton. Shortly after the events of 9/11/2001 I began the process of creating a private practice in psychotherapy. During the growth of my practice beyond seeing patients for individual therapy, I provided services for EAP programs, sober house residences and treatment facilities. In December 2010 I closed my practice and relocated with my dogs to western North Carolina. I spent ten years at Pavillon in Mill Spring, NC as a clinical supervisor until November 2020. I continue to reside in North Carolina and hold active licenses in Florida (LMHC) and North Carolina (LCAS). I am experienced with a varied patient demographic and am easy to connect with. While currently semi-retired I continue seeking to help provide guidance and direction for others.

Hello and welcome! My name is Sabrina Metivier. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Nurse Specialist in beautiful Central Florida. I have worked professionally in a variety of settings such as inpatient and outpatient health care facilities, Universities, private practice, and not for profit organizations for over 20 years. Throughout my career as a counseling therapist and a Registered Nurse working in behavioral health care, I was afforded the opportunity to work closely with adults of all ages, college students, athletes and professionals. I also had the opportunity to travel and share my knowledge through lectures and workshops. My counseling style is welcoming, warm, interactive but also straightforward and honest. It is my goal to create a genuine relationship that is respectful, caring, direct, and cooperative. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Collaboratively working together, we will look to discover strategies, tools and solutions that work best to empower you. The therapeutic process looks different for each individual, and my belief is in finding a unique, individualized and wholistic approach for each client. I always meet the client where they are and I provide a non-judgmental safe place where healing and change can occur. We will work together to create a treatment plan specific to your unique personal goals. In my work with clients of various backgrounds and cultures, I do not spend much time processing the past (i.e., childhood experiences, past trauma, etc.). I believe that true healing comes when individuals take active steps in the therapy process and focus on what they can do in their present situation to address their current challenges. I often use Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy individually or combined to help my clients focus on understanding how their thoughts impact their emotions and their behaviors. I also look at the impact of their lifestyle habits such as diet, nutrition, rest and exercise, all of which affect their mental, emotional and physical health. I have a considerable amount of experience in working with individuals who have problems managing stress and managing their emotions. Additional areas of focus include a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, physical trauma and or emotional abuse, adjustment disorders (moving, new parents, job changes, divorce), new onset healthcare conditions, chronic health care issues, chronic pain, illness and disability, Co-morbidity conditions, and those who are experiencing grief and loss or relationship issues. It takes courage to take the first step towards a change. By reaching out for support and help you have already taken the first step towards improving your life and achieving your goals. I am excited at the possibility of supporting you as you move toward a transformation that can lead to a happier, more fulfilled life. Now that you are ready, let's get to work. I look forward to working with you!

In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
