I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I value family units and children and adolescents being provided an environment in which they are able to thrive as individuals. Historically, I've worked with adolescents who were in the foster care system needing psychoeducational independent living skills to better be equipt as an adult to contribute to society and able to navigate through the world. Also, providing individuals tools to navigate through life crisis is very important to assist in being functional and having coping mechanism help go through the crisis. I believe in empowering the individual with skills/coping mechanisms to aid them in crisis and helping them to be able to function day to day. I want to provide a safe place where individuals can gain insight and grow.

Thank you very much for checking here: I hope to be of service to you. My 17+ years of experience includes many years of counseling and listening, across various cultures, ages and personal client needs, with a few years as adjunct professor at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, LA: 3 years of work as a patient counselor in a hospital psychiatric unit, and 3 years of practice in a pediatric clinic. My current solo practice is empathetic, accepting and non-judgmental, having also practiced as an EAP (employee counselor) in a very large hospital and city system, in which I was required to see anyone for any situation or issue they may bring to counseling. This unique opportunity provided me with insights and understanding of people beyond my own personal scope of experience. I believe this has made me more sensitive to the needs, hurts and stress of the various clients I serve. I am generally available 6 days a week for appointments, because I really do enjoy my practice and my clients. I am licensed in Louisiana, Oregon and Florida and serve clients in those states, as well as in overseas countries. I am old enough to enjoy my 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchild, together with my wife in a delightful sharing relationship. This creates a relaxed, accepting and strong relationship and family foundation for your counseling needs. My personal strengths hopefully convey to you a caring and positive mindset as we work together. My hobbies are sailing, backpacking, snow skiing and cooking (especially apple pies:) (p.s. In fairness to potential Oregon clients, I want to let you know that I am in the Eastern Time Zone, and regretfully, I can only be available to West Coast clients from 6:00/ am until 1:00 pm :( If this is not workable hours for you, you may wish to find another therapist who may have better hours for your schedule. I felt it was only fair to let you know this in advance.) Also..I can open more hours than what shows on the schedule, so if you need a day/time that is not shown, please message me. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi, my name is Alecia, I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have 6 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. I currently have a private practice and my past experience has included working with adults and children in crisis unit, rehab and detox facility, caregivers of individuals with Neurocognitive disorders, hospital trauma units and emergency departments. I use Evidence Based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered, Solution Focused therapies with Motivational Interviewing. My goal is to collaborate with members to embrace change through their strengths. Life can be a lonely place when you no longer feel yourself or are feeling overwhelmed. Anxiety, depression and traumas can feel like a cinder block on our shoulders. You may wonder how things will change? Change begins with vulnerability. To be vulnerable is to let go of the notion you have to struggle alone. It is time to write another chapter of your story with the strength that has gotten you this far. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to release the burden that is holding you back from living your best life. Be you, Your Way.

Most people don’t work with me because things are “kind of hard.” They come because something isn’t working anymore. Individuals often reach out feeling anxious, discouraged, or emotionally worn down—stuck in looping thoughts, struggling to find motivation, and wondering why even small things feel harder than they should. Couples often arrive after the same arguments keep repeating, followed by long stretches of silence or emotional distance, both partners feeling misunderstood and unsure how to break the cycle. I work with both individuals and couples who want more than surface-level relief. My approach is practical, forward-looking, and focused on helping you understand what’s happening beneath the patterns you’re stuck in—so you can begin making real, sustainable changes. Working With Individuals When anxiety or depression has been present for a while, it often shows up as a mix of emotional heaviness, high anxiety, low motivation, and strain in relationships. Many individuals I work with feel mentally exhausted and frustrated with themselves for not “handling things better,” even though they’re trying. My work with individuals focuses on helping you understand your emotional patterns, regulate intense feelings, and develop practical skills for managing symptoms in everyday life. Rather than just talking about what hurts, we work toward clarity and direction—so you know what you’re dealing with and what to do when symptoms show up. Clients often say they feel more hopeful within the first few weeks because they finally have a clear sense of what’s going on and a realistic plan for addressing it. Early wins—such as improved emotion regulation—help rebuild confidence and momentum. Working With Couples Couples usually come to me caught in a familiar cycle: frequent, recurring conflict followed by long periods of silence or emotional withdrawal. Arguments tend to repeat, resolution feels temporary, and both partners are left feeling disconnected or defeated. In my work with couples, I focus on helping each partner understand their relationship blueprint—their expectations, assumptions, and ways of relating—and how those differ from their partner’s. Most couples aren’t struggling because one person is wrong. They’re struggling because their expectations are misaligned, and each assumes the other’s way of relating is the problem. As couples gain insight into these differences and develop new skills, conflict typically becomes less frequent, less intense, and shorter in duration. Communication improves, emotional safety increases, and repair becomes more possible. A Practical, Coaching-Oriented Approach My style is often described as more coaching-oriented than traditional counseling. While we don’t ignore past experiences, our work is primarily forward-looking. Understanding the past can be helpful, but it isn’t required for significant, meaningful change. I focus on teaching practical skills, setting clear goals together, and helping clients stay accountable to what they say they want for themselves and their relationships. This includes structured homework, weekly review, and ongoing adjustment—so insight turns into real-world change. Many clients tell me this approach has been more effective than years of standard counseling. Who Is a Good Fit? Individuals tend to do best in my work if they’re looking not just for emotional support (though you'll get that), but also for practical help managing anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm. Couples tend to do best when both partners are committed to making the marriage work, even if they feel discouraged or disconnected right now. If you value clarity, structure, and actionable change—and you’re willing to engage the process—my approach is likely a strong fit. Faith and Values I work respectfully with clients from a variety of backgrounds and belief systems. I will never proselytize or impose my personal faith on anyone. At the same time, I’m comfortable engaging faith as a meaningful part of life and relationships when clients want that included. For Christian individuals and couples, I’m able to honor and work within our faith commitments in a thoughtful, grounded way. For those who are not religious, our work remains practical, focused, and fully respectful of your worldview. My background includes an MS in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University, an MDiv from Baylor University, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida. I’ve served as a psychologist and professor in university settings and am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Florida.

Hello, my name is Michael. I have been a License Mental Health Counselor in Florida since 2009 and have been in the mental health field since 2006. I have worked with a wide range of clientele from individuals with several and chronic mental illness to suicidal adolescents to inmates facing life sentences. I wanted to tell you a little story about myself. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and treated it with chemotherapy. In 2017, I was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia which I learned was a side effect of this initial chemotherapy. I spent a month in the hospital, only growing worse and nearly meeting my demise. I knew I needed a new approach. I began my journey into naturalistic healing with food, herbs, and life-style changes. I was able to heal myself. This experience changed my life and way I counsel. I now believe that the use of food, herbs, and lifestyle changes help your mood, mind, everything! So, I have been thinking a lot about my counseling style. To be honest, I really don’t have one in particular. I use a collective approach. I use a little CBT, DBT, Motivational Interview, Person First, and even Emotion Code. However, I don’t believe just talk therapy makes someone 'happy'. It is a holistic approach. I encourage clients to mediate, exercise, eat whole food.

As a licensed therapist in Florida, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina, I specialize in working with women who feel exhausted from taking care of everyone else. Many of the women I work with have spent years being the strong one — supporting their families, managing responsibilities, and putting others first. Somewhere along the way, they began to lose touch with their own needs, identity, and sense of self. You may find yourself wondering, “Why do I feel guilty when I try to prioritize myself?” or “When did I stop knowing what I actually want?” These patterns often show up as anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, or a deep sense of burnout. My work focuses on helping women reconnect with who they truly are beneath the roles and expectations they’ve carried for so long. Together, we explore the patterns that keep you stuck in people-pleasing, self-doubt, and over-responsibility while building the confidence and self-trust needed to create healthier boundaries and more fulfilling relationships. I strive to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can safely explore your inner world, process past experiences, and rediscover your voice. Through our work together, my goal is to help you move from feeling overwhelmed and disconnected to feeling grounded, confident, and more aligned with your authentic self. You deserve a life where your needs matter too.

In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
