Getting appropriate mental health care can help you learn the coping strategies to overcome many of life’s challenges. If you’re looking for a therapist in Massachusetts, it can be beneficial to consider online treatment. Barriers to care, including a lack of in-person providers or transportation issues, can make finding in-person treatment challenging. An online platform like BetterHelp can make therapy more convenient and flexible.

BetterHelp has been offering online therapy for over a decade and allows you to work with a licensed clinical social worker, licensed therapist, or licensed psychologist from the comfort of your home at a time that works for your schedule. Plus, you can change providers at any time until you find one with whom you have a supportive therapeutic relationship. While BetterHelp does not currently provide group therapy, it does offer Christian and pastoral counseling for those who would like to integrate their faith into their sessions.

Whether you need support with anger management or help managing the symptoms of a mental health condition, online therapy can help. If you’re looking for an online therapist, MA has many providers who are experienced with counseling psychology and licensed to provide telehealth services across the state. Connect with one of the providers below to learn more.

I have over twenty years of clinical experience working with client's experiencing intimate relationship difficulties, addiction, difficulty managing anger, coping with grief and loss, mental health challenges like Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and PTSD.. I also have almost eight years of working with veterans attempting to adjust to civilian life after separation from the military, young people finding healthy ways to make the transition to early adulthood. My work with client's is driven by the belief that all of us have the capacity for making change. This change comes from the courage and willingness to examine our lives and begin to develop a plan to make things better. We are all worthy of seeking better things in our lives. I approach my work with a positive attitude, encouraging communication, stressing personal responsibility, and never give up attitude. I believe life is for the living. It's up to each one of us to unlock our [potential and actively seek to obtain our goals, fill our bucket lists, have no regrets ! I am located in the USA and in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. I work here part time with a traditional Monday-to-Friday work week. I do find myself online at some point every day typically. I'm most frequently available from 5pm-800pm, very early many mornings by 4am for a couple of hours which makes working with international client's very manageable, and some weekend hours too. I hope that these times work. Most client's enjoy a combination of message based communications that are not in real time with regular weekly live sessions bu video (not Skype) or cell. There is even a "live chat" function where we can write to each other on a split screen in real time. We can decide what works best for you. I try extremely hard to get back to client's within the same day a message is received. There are times when I'm in daily contact, often in bunches of messages, with client's as needed. There are times that we may be in weekly contact. We can establish this rhythm of contact together. A credo that I go by: If you keep on doing what you've always done you will keep on being what you've always been. Nothing changes unless YOU make the change. I try to bring the following quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. into my work as best I can: "We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there "is" such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.” Another favorite thought of mine comes from a movie and states "Life is too short not to have a cookie when you want one" Best, Andy

Hello! Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Denise and I have worked in the mental health field for almost ten years. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and children, and have worked with a wide variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, and other life difficulties. I am especially interested in working with adolescents, but I am excited to have the opportunity to work with adults as well. Most of the clients in my in-person practice are adults. I am particularly interested in doing message-based and live chat counseling. My counseling style is a combination of psychodynamic approaches (talking about emotions and working through difficult experiences using traditional "talk therapy" type techniques) and cognitive-behavioral approaches (looking at the relationship between emotions, behaviors, and thoughts, and how influencing one can make us feel better or worse emotionally). I use more of one or the other depending on the person's preference. Much research has shown that one of the most important factors in how much a person benefits from counseling is the quality of the relationship between the person and the counselor. So I am glad that you took the time to read my profile and invite you to message me if you have any questions. If you feel like we may be a good fit for each other, I look forward to working with you!

I am licensed in Massachusetts with several years of professional work experience. My approach to working with individuals and families is varied, depending on the specific needs and goals of each client. With a focus on client-centered and strength-based therapeutic models, I have found it most beneficial and effective to incorporate a variety of modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Supportive Therapy based on the needs of the individual or family I am working with. Recognizing where my clients are in their growth and development is a key factor in the approach taken when working with them. As growth occurs, as does the therapeutic intervention. I aim to create a partnership with all clients to ensure everyone’s goals and needs are met to the best of our abilities. I hope you will take the first step in sharing your strengths as a way of attaining the goals you have set for yourself through a shared therapeutic relationship.

Hi there! I’m Mike (he/him/his) and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and educator practicing in Chicago, IL. I have 12+ years of experience working with adults and adolescents in a variety of mental health settings--including, clinical, residential, and urban education. My experience has allowed me the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life dealing with issues such as chronic stress, mood disorders, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, family struggles, and more. In recognizing that no 2 people experience the same obstacle in the same way, I take a person-centered eclectic approach to working with clients. This means that I strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and confidential space that encourages vulnerability and openness, where I can meet people where they are and understand what they want to get out of therapy. In supporting clients, I draw from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including (but not limited to) Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectic-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solutions-Focused Therapy, while basing my practice on a trauma-informed foundation of Multicultural Counseling. Whether a client is looking for healing, growth, and/or change, I believe forming an authentic, collaborative, and trusting client/counselor relationship is the cornerstone to therapeutic success, and the first step in helping clients acquire the skills they need to help themselves.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Some commonly asked questions can be found below.

How much does a therapist cost?

Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.

BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.

Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.

How do I know if I should get a therapist?

Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.

Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions in Massachusetts can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.

Does insurance cover therapy?

Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.

Is online therapy safe?

Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.
