I have been a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida for the past 11 years, and I currently hold a Ph.D. in Psychology. I have worked with adolescents, their families, and adults with addiction and dual disorders for the past 23 years. Nineteen out these 23 years of experience, I have worked directly with adults with addiction, anger management, and self-management problems. Helping individuals and couples who are struggling with addiction problems (i.e., alcohol, illicit substances, medication abuse, gambling, technology) has been the center of my work. I have also worked with the family members of individuals who were dealing with different addictions. I understand that the impact of a loved one's addiction problems can be very overwhelming, and at times, too much to handle. For this reason, helping the family members of individuals with addiction problems has also been one of my greatest passions. The impact that stems from various types of addiction includes, but are not limited to grief and loss, feelings of powerless, depression, anxiety, and much more. My approach includes cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, Rogerian, and positive psychology techniques. If you are ready to regain control over your life, whether you are directly suffering from addiction problems or you have been impacted by someone else's addiction, I would like to assist you in instilling hope back into your life. On a more personal note, I am originally from Brazil; however, I have been in the US for the past 30 years. I am currently a proud American citizen. I enjoy meditation and walking, and I absolutely love animals. Additionally, helping others has been among my greatest passions. So, I really look forward to working with you.

11/28/25 It is winter in the mountains. I have turned off video scheduling availability. If you want video please just let me know. I am into frequent power outage season and video is not always a possibility. I am a licensed clinical social worker and certified trauma professional. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BSW in social work, a certificate in Addictions, and an Master's in clinical social work. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, borderline personality disorder and depression; clients with a history of physical and psychological abuse, self harm, sexual abuse, and other traumas. I utilize a combination of traditional talk therapy, education on how trauma affects our brains, and implementation of practical tools and action steps to achieve the changes you want to make in your life. I believe talk therapy is helpful but that it takes action to reprogram your brain's reactions to triggers. Most clients I have worked with who are experiencing any form of anxiety believe they are crazy. I assure you it is not crazy. Your brain is meant to function in the way it does to protect you. I also wholeheartedly believe physical and mental health are intertwined. I will ask you to experiment with new techniques and reactions to triggers and difficult relationships. I provide the knowledge of tools and techniques but you are the expert on you. Generally, I start with getting to know you and what you want to work on. We move into education on your specific diagnoses and on brain function and how we can reprogram. We begin taking small steps using tools I will teach you. All I need is for you to be willing to experiment with new techniques and reactions to difficult situations and people, and to let me know if the specific technique does not work for you so we can try another. Those steps have been as small as having clients who experience agoraphobia sit in a different room for 5 minutes, simple but not easy. I will also focus on your physical health and activity level. There is much research that shows some type of physical activity is helpful. I myself have experienced this. I am a hiker, a former activity leader for the Florida Trail, and wilderness first aid certified. I hike, when I am inactive I definitely experience mood changes. If hiking is not your thing that is okay. We will find something that works for you. 10/01/25 If you have requested to work with me.. I am not refusing you. For whatever reason I receive the message and then clients are removed before I have 10 minutes to respond. Most recent disappeared in 6 minutes while I was reading the client info.

As a licensed therapist in Florida, I specialize in supporting individuals navigating complex emotional landscapes. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a nurse for 15 years, working in emergency and urgent care settings. My professional approach centers on helping clients address challenges like depression, anxiety, and trauma. I'm passionate about helping people better understand the neurobiology of their brains to help them realize they're in more control over their emotions than they realize and can gain the tools they need to regain confidence, joy, and peace in their lives. My therapeutic practice is rooted in compassionate, evidence-based strategies that honor each person's unique journey. I create a supportive environment where clients can explore their experiences, learn more about how their brain and nervous system can impact mental health, and cultivate meaningful personal growth, working collaboratively to create effective strategies for moving forward. Whether you're struggling with panic attacks, processing past trauma, or working through family dynamics, I'm committed to walking alongside you with empathy and professional expertise. My goal is to empower you to discover your inner strengths, build effective coping strategies, and move towards a more balanced, fulfilling life. In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
